Task 1: Music Video Begins

Understand the purpose of music videos

Modern Music Videos were originally made and used as a marketing device to promote the sale of music recordings which are called 'Promos'.

In 1940, Walt Disney created Fantasia, an animated film based around pieces of classical music which consist videos and cartoons to the famous music like Nutcracker Suite by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky along with dance from famous ballet Nutcracker (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy). Also the Pastoral Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven with the use creatures of the Greek Mythology in it video along with the music playing in the background.

The Beatle's first major motion picture 'A hard Day's Night' in 1964 arguably set out the basic visual vocabulary of today music videos.

Later in 1970, UK had introduced Top of the Pops to promote a single created environment of innovation and competition amongst bands and record labels as the show's producer placed strict limits on the number of videos it would use...therefore a good video would increase a song sales.

The legendary band Queen started a whole era for using music videos with their music video 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which later in 2009 the Muppets made a parody to showing their legacy to the Queen.

The late Michael Jackson was the first to create the idea of a short film - a music video with a beginning, middle and end.

Michael Jackson dance moves in this video has swept the world with children wearing a white glove in one hand and nothing on the other which led to the teachers at a local school banned this from ever appearing from school.

Today music videos have all kind of personal life in their video like Professor Green and Emeli Sande video 'Read all about it' which was based on his life when he was young. The video begins with a five-year old boy plays Preofessor Green when he was young alone, sad and angry as his father is having better life without him in his life picture this was caused by the boy staring through a house where his step-mother and his half-sister are playing with each other but his father invites him in and speaks to someone on the phone which maybe his mother or grandmother we don't know. The boy goes upstairs and see his old room and damages everything in anger as his father stops him but his step-mother is shouting at both the father and son. In the end, the boy meets his future self who is Professor Green and during the music video Professor Green was rapping outside the warehouse with the sun setting in the background and Emeli Sande was singing in the rain.

There are some music video that is a parody to other music video that celebrities have been doing. These videos brought nothing but fun, laughter or fun to its viewers which comes to this videos made by America's own boy band named IM5 and famous singer, dancer and director, Toderick Hall. They all came up with a boy band that became popular in the Disney Business and became part of a collection of Toderick Hall Video Collection that can be found on YouTube.

In this Music Video, the Boy Band, IM5 are dressed up as the Disney Princes and Princesses to reflect a typical high School boy band where the Princesses break up with the Princes , which caused them to start a boy band thanks to a janitor who is later revealed to be Mickey Mouse. Later at the end of the music video, they get back with their girlfriends. Also Toderick created a video that reflect the Disney Princesses with the Beyonce song "Grown Woman".
